Our Region in State Leadership

The Rancho Cordova Area has a strong connection to the California State Capitol, with several local legislators serving in leadership and key committee roles.

For our business community, those positions matter because many of the issues discussed at the state level from the budget and education to technology, transportation and economic development can have an impact on employers and the regional economy.

Leadership in the State Senate

Sen. Angelique Ashby currently serves as Senate Majority Leader. She also serves on several committees, including Judiciary, Local Government, Revenue and Taxation, and Governmental Organization.

Sen. Roger Niello has also been selected by his Senate Republican colleagues to become Senate Republican Leader following the November 2026 election. Sen. Brian Jones will continue serving as Senate Minority Leader until that transition takes place.

Representation in the State Assembly

Assemblymember Josh Hoover represents Assembly District 7 and serves as vice chair of the Assembly Appropriations, Education, and Communications and Conveyance committees.

He also serves on committees focused on transportation, privacy and consumer protection, natural resources, and other issues affecting communities and businesses throughout California.

Staying Connected to What Happens at the Capitol

Leadership and committee assignments help shape where and how important policy discussions take place. For businesses in the Rancho Cordova Area, understanding who represents our region and the roles they hold can provide valuable context as state decisions move forward.

The Rancho Cordova Area Chamber remains committed to helping businesses stay informed about issues that may affect employers, economic growth and our community.

By staying connected to developments at the Capitol, our members can better understand the policies and conversations shaping California’s business environment.
